Kevin Schade scored twice as Brentford drew 2-2 with Bournemouth, despite the hosts leading the major possession, passing and shooting statistics.
A level opening half
Bournemouth drew 2-2 with Brentford at Vitality Stadium on Saturday, with the two teams sharing four goals and a point in Premier League Regular Season round four. Both sides used a 4-2-3-1 formation, and the match was level at half-time after two goals in four minutes.
Brentford broke the deadlock in the 34th minute. Yehor Yarmoliuk provided the assist for Kevin Schade, who scored a normal goal to put the visitors ahead. Bournemouth responded quickly, with Justin Kluivert equalising in the 38th minute. Igor Thiago and Marcus Tavernier were both booked in the final minute of the first half.
Tavernier puts Bournemouth ahead
Bournemouth completed the turnaround seven minutes after the restart. Francisco Evanilson assisted Marcus Tavernier in the 52nd minute, giving the hosts a 2-1 lead. Tavernier was Bournemouth’s highest-rated player, earning an 8.2 rating after 83 minutes. He recorded one goal, three shots on target and four key passes.
Brentford answered almost immediately. Schade scored again in the 56th minute to restore parity and complete his brace. He finished with a rating of 8.0, two goals and two shots on target across his 90 minutes.
Bournemouth controlled the numbers
The statistics showed Bournemouth producing the greater share of the attacking play despite not turning that advantage into a win. The hosts had 57% possession, completed 388 accurate passes compared with Brentford’s 249, and registered 19 total shots to the visitors’ seven. Bournemouth also led 10-2 in shots on goal.
Brentford goalkeeper C. Kelleher made eight saves, while Bournemouth recorded none. Bournemouth also had 11 shots from inside the box and eight from outside it, compared with six and one respectively for Brentford. Those figures pointed to a stronger attacking output from the home side, but Schade’s finishing kept the score level.
Discipline and league picture
Bournemouth collected five yellow cards, with James Hill booked in the 63rd minute before Lewis Cook, Adam Smith and David Brooks were cautioned late on. Brentford received one further yellow card beyond Thiago’s first-half booking, and neither team received a red card.
The draw leaves Bournemouth listed 15th with two points from three games, having entered the match with a loss and two draws in their most recent form. Brentford are listed fifth with five points from three matches after a win and two draws in their previous three. The result adds another draw to both teams’ recent sequences and preserves Brentford’s unbeaten record in the supplied league standings.
