Florentín reverses Banfield’s early lead

Independ. Rivadavia beat Banfield 3-1 after falling behind, with José Ignacio Florentín’s two goals turning a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 lead before half-time. The result was already settled at the interval, with the hosts completing the comeback at Estadio Bautista Gargantini.

Banfield opened the scoring in the 9th minute when Santiago Daniele made it 0-1, assisted by David Zalazar. Independ. Rivadavia responded two minutes later: Juan Elordi assisted Florentín for the 1-1 equaliser. Florentín struck again in the 15th minute, with Leonel Bucca providing the assist, to make it 2-1. In the 45th minute, Daniele scored an own goal that counted for Independ. Rivadavia and made the running score 3-1.

The numbers suggest a competitive contest despite the result. Banfield had 54% possession and completed 232 accurate passes from 348 total, compared with Independ. Rivadavia’s 194 accurate passes from 307. Banfield also led total shots 13-12, while both teams registered two shots on goal. Independ. Rivadavia’s expected goals were 0.64 against Banfield’s 0.5.

Florentín leads the decisive numbers

Florentín was the standout performer with a 9.2 rating. He played 89 minutes, scored twice and registered three key passes. Independ. Rivadavia received yellow cards for Elordi in the 28th minute, Tomás Bottari in the 43rd and Alejo Osella in the 90th; neither team received a red card.

In Clausura - Group B, Independ. Rivadavia are ranked #7 with 22 points from 15 games, while Banfield are ranked #13 with 14 points from 15 games. In Apertura - Group B, Independ. Rivadavia are #1 and Banfield #12, with a 16-point gap between them: 34 points to 18.
