Rodríguez completes Columbus’ 2-0 win

Columbus Crew defeated FC Dallas 2-0 in Major League Soccer at Toyota Stadium, securing the result after leading 1-0 at half-time. The visitors opened the scoring in the 18th minute, when Gonzalo Tapia converted with an assist from Anass Zaroury to make it 0-1. Santiago Rodríguez added the last goal in the 70th minute, making the score 0-2.

Dallas had more of the ball but could not score

FC Dallas held 52% possession and recorded 16 shots to Columbus’ nine, including five shots on goal. Columbus goalkeeper P. Schulte made five saves, helping preserve the clean sheet. The Crew’s expected-goals figure was 1.54, compared with 1.2 for Dallas, and their more efficient finishing decided a match in which Dallas had the greater shot volume.

Dallas received four yellow cards, shown to nolan norris, Shaquell Moore, Christian Cappis and Herman Johansson. Marcelo Andrés Herrera was booked for Columbus. Neither team received a red card.

Different-table positions shift after the result

Before kick-off, Dallas were ranked #2 in the Western Conference with 54 points, while Columbus were ranked #11 in the Eastern Conference with 38 points; those positions were not comparable because they came from different tables. Dallas remain provisionally #2 on 54 points after 32 games. Columbus move provisionally to #9 with 41 points. Rodríguez was the standout performer, rating 8.2 after one goal, one shot on target and five tackles.
