Seven-point gap puts Lanus home record under focus against Estudiantes

Lanus v Estudiantes L.P. is tomorrow’s Clausura 10 fixture, with kickoff set for 00:15 UTC on Tuesday, September 22, at Estadio Ciudad de Lanus in Buenos Aires. Lanus have 13 Clausura points from nine matches, while Estudiantes’ listed total is 10, making the supplied seven-point table gap an important detail to monitor alongside referee N. Ramirez’s appointment.

What's at stake

Lanus are ranked #8 in Clausura Group A with a 4W 1D 4L record and a goal difference of 3. Estudiantes L.P. are ranked #11 with 3W 1D 5L and a goal difference of 0, although the table context places Estudiantes seven points ahead of Lanus. Using that stated gap, a Lanus win would reduce it to four points, while an Estudiantes win would extend it to 10; a draw would leave the gap unchanged.

The numbers

Lanus have been stronger at home than their overall Clausura position suggests: 5W 5D 3L, 13 goals scored and 10 conceded across their home sample, with seven clean sheets. Estudiantes’ away record is 4W 3D 5L, including eight goals scored, nine conceded and five clean sheets. Across all competitions listed, Lanus have scored 29 and conceded 25 in 26 matches; Estudiantes have scored 28 and conceded 17 in the same number.

The recent lists offer contrasting detail without a clear conclusion. Lanus’s 26-result sequence contains six wins, while Estudiantes’ 26 results contain eight wins; the most recent entries are a Lanus loss and an Estudiantes draw.

One to watch

D. Aquino is the only named player in the scorer chart for these squads. The Lanus forward has six goals and two assists in 20 appearances, giving him a direct contribution to eight goals before a match in which Lanus have scored 29 overall this season.

Why it matters

Lanus need to turn a useful home record into points that improve their position beyond #8, while Estudiantes must address a Clausura record that has them #11 despite a stronger Apertura campaign: #1 with 31 points, compared with Lanus’s #6 and 24.
